B2B Paid Advertising (PPC)

Paid acquisition judged by pipeline, not cost per lead.

We plan, run and improve B2B paid media across search and social, with bidding, targeting and landing pages tuned toward qualified opportunities — and the CRM data to prove whether it is working.

Role in the growth system

  • 01Create demand(role of this service)
  • 02Capture demand(role of this service)
  • 03Convert demand
  • 04Measure what works

Discipline group: Demand

Five separate lines of light, each from its own source, converging through a stone ring into a single path.

Ad platforms are extremely good at finding whatever you tell them to find. Tell them to find form fills and they will find the cheapest ones available, which in B2B are rarely the ones that become customers.

Our job is to give the platforms better instructions: sharper targeting, stronger offers, better landing pages and conversion signals that reflect commercial value, not just activity.

The premise

In B2B, the cheapest lead is often the most expensive one — once you count the sales time it consumes.
We optimize for the cost of a qualified opportunity, not the cost of a contact.

Channels

Each channel has a different job.

We allocate budget by the role a channel plays in your buying journey, not by habit.

01
Google Ads
Captures active demand for category, problem, competitor and branded searches. Usually the fastest route to in-market buyers and the clearest source of intent data.
02
Microsoft Ads
Often overlooked, and frequently well suited to B2B audiences working in corporate environments. Typically imported from and managed alongside search campaigns.
03
LinkedIn Ads
Precise targeting by company, role, seniority and account list. Best used to distribute ideas and reach buying committees, not only to collect leads.
04
Selected paid social
Other social platforms where your audience demonstrably spends attention. We recommend them only when the targeting and economics make sense.
05
Remarketing
Continuing the conversation with people and accounts who have already engaged, with messaging matched to what they have seen.

The feedback loop

Teach the platforms what a good customer looks like.

The most important improvement in most B2B accounts is not a new ad. It is feeding qualified outcomes from the CRM back into bidding.

  1. 01Audience or query
  2. 02Ad
  3. 03Landing page
  4. 04Conversion
  5. 05CRM qualification
  6. 06Offline conversion import

Qualified stages return to the ad platforms, so bidding learns from pipeline, not form fills.

A useful distinction

Two ways to run the same budget.

Optimizing for leads

  • Broad targeting to lower cost per click
  • Lead-gen forms with minimal friction
  • Bidding on all conversions equally
  • Success reported as CPL
  • Sales complains about quality

Optimizing for pipeline

  • Targeting defined by account fit and intent
  • Offers matched to buying stage
  • Bidding weighted toward qualified outcomes
  • Success reported as cost per opportunity and CAC
  • Sales and marketing read the same numbers

Common failure points

What we usually find in an audit.

  • 1

    Broad match without guardrails

Spend drifting into irrelevant queries because negative keywords and match types have not kept pace with automation.

  • 2

    Homepage as landing page

Campaigns with specific intent sent to general pages that do not answer the question the ad raised.

  • 3

    Every conversion counted equally

Newsletter signups, content downloads and demo requests treated as the same signal.

  • 4

    No offline conversion data

Platforms optimizing blind, with no visibility of which clicks became opportunities.

  • 5

LinkedIn used only for lead forms

Expensive audiences asked for contact details before they have any reason to give them.

  • 6

    Constant tinkering

Frequent changes without hypotheses, so nothing is ever learned.

How we work

Experiment deliberately, not constantly.

  1. 01

    Audit

Account structure, search terms, targeting, conversion tracking, landing pages and CRM outcomes.

  2. 02

    Instrument

Fix measurement first: conversion definitions, value signals and offline imports.

  3. 03

    Restructure

Campaigns organized by intent and audience so budget and learning are not diluted.

  4. 04

    Test

A prioritized test plan with clear hypotheses, success criteria and enough time to reach a conclusion.

  5. 05

    Scale

Increase investment where the cost of qualified pipeline supports it.

Measurement

The metrics that decide budget.

  1. Efficiency

    Cost per click and conversion

    Useful diagnostics, never the headline.

  2. Quality

    Cost per qualified lead

Conversions that meet agreed qualification criteria, by campaign and audience.

  3. Pipeline

    Cost per opportunity

Opportunities created from paid media, with value and stage progression.

  4. Economics

    CAC and payback

Paid media’s contribution to customer acquisition cost and time to recover it.

Questions

Paid Advertising (PPC): common questions

Which ad platforms do you manage?

Primarily Google Ads, Microsoft Ads and LinkedIn Ads, plus remarketing and other paid social platforms where your audience and economics justify them.

Is there a minimum budget?

There is a practical minimum below which platforms cannot learn and tests cannot reach meaningful conclusions. It depends on your market and deal value, so we discuss it in the first conversation rather than quoting a generic number.

Do you create landing pages?

Yes. Landing pages are often the largest single lever on paid performance, so we treat them as part of the campaign rather than a separate project.

How do you handle attribution?

We use platform data for optimization, CRM data for commercial outcomes, and self-reported attribution to capture what software cannot. No single attribution model tells the whole truth, so we are explicit about what each view can and cannot show.
